Tanjong Bidara is a beach attraction in Alor Gajah; located about 10 kilometres away from Masjid Tanah town. It is a popular picnic beach, equipped with various comforts and facilities for visitors. The idea to develop this beach was part of Tan Sri Abdul Rahim bin Thamby Chik’s (who was the Chief Minister of Melaka at the time) plan to enhance the tourism sector.
The sloping white sandy beach and the gentle breeze makes it a competitor to the main beaches in Port Dickson. The long coastline together with the splendour and uniqueness of the fishing villages makes for a soothing and beautiful sight. To ensure public safety, a lifeguard tower of the Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (JPAM) was erected to monitor and help visitors during emergencies in the water. Other facilities available to visitors are shops, a stage, gazebos, benches, and public toilets.
